| Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of this position is to recruit prospective teachers and individuals seeking initial teacher licensure (e.g. high school students, community college transfer students, post-baccalaureate students, lateral entry/resident teachers). This position also coordinates recruitment efforts for masters and doctoral programs within the Cato College of Education. |
| Summary of Position Responsibilities |
Major responsibilities for this position include recruitment of new students into initial licensure and graduate level programs within the Cato College of Education through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, participation in local/regional job and education fairs, recruitment events, and visits to area schools. This position will be responsible for working with department program directors and chairs to develop strategies for growing enrollment in all programs, especially in areas of high demand. |
| Minimum Education/Experience |
A master's degree and holds or can obtain a North Carolina teaching license. The license should be obtained within 1 year of the start date. A person with a baccalaureate degree, graduate coursework (current enrollment in a master's level program), and at least two years of relevant work experience (higher education teaching or advising experience) may be considered. |
| Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
- Candidates must have classroom teaching experience in a P-12 setting, computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, and University information systems, preferably Banner),
- A record of success in working with minimal supervision, as well as experience in working with unique organizations and people.
- Must be able to work with a wide range of students as well as with detailed paperwork.
- The preferred candidate will have background experiences in more than one of the following areas: administrative or professional advising, public school, community college, and/or University employment, and program recruitment.
