Job Summary:

Nature of Work:

The University of Colorado College of Nursing is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) / Instructor in the Non-Tenure Clinical Practice Track for a 1.0 FTE benefits-eligible position with its CU Center for Midwifery (CFM) faculty practice in Longmont, Colorado. This is a full scope position including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care. This position is clinically-based as a health care provider, and includes an instructor level, non-tenure clinical practice track appointment within the College of Nursing. Clinic Description:

The CU Center for Midwifery at Longmont is a private practice model that provides holistic, person-centered care. We offer people many services including individualized care, alternative labor/birth options and water birth, with referrals to childbirth education, lactation services, and provider groups within the system and community. The practice provides full-scope midwifery care to people at outpatient clinics located in Longmont and Boulder with inpatient services at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital. CFM believes that people benefit from personalized and comprehensive care that focuses on the patient while including the family in the plan of care. We serve people who desire an alternative labor and birth experience with the option of water birth. The midwives work collaboratively with providers at UCHealth and CU across the front range. The CNM will be part of a midwifery service that has a long and successful history within the University of Colorado system. The Longmont practice opened in 2017 and CNMs will be expected to actively participate in practice development and Promotion

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Provide full scope care to the gynecologic, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum client

  • Provide care in the outpatient clinic, OB ED unit, and intrapartum unit

  • Utilize limited obstetric ultrasound skills in the outpatient and inpatient setting

  • Attend monthly practice meetings and participate in a minimum of 1 practice and/or College of Nursing committees.

  • Educate health care team students (APNs, medical students, residents) and actively participate in student evaluations.

  • Provide water birth option to low-risk patients

  • Participate in practice development, promotion and community outreach.

  • Active participation in health plan contracts.

  • Remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Longmont, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:

  • Master's degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • Current AMCB certification
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
    • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.

Senior Instructor:

  • Master's degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • Current AMCB certification
  • A minimum of one year full scope practice providing antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
    • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.

* Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.

* Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities

Assistant Professor:

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • Current AMCB certification
  • A minimum of two years of full scope practice providing antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
    • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.

* Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.

* Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current, active DEA licensure
  • Experience in alternative labor/birth options
  • Experience as Surgical First Assistant for C-sections
  • Ultrasound training

Competencies:

  • Exceptional independent judgment to monitor and respond to changes in a client's condition
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and other members of the health care team
  • Skilled in the use of the electronic medical health record

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$95,683 - $105,252 annually at Instructor of Clinical Practice/CNM,

$96,639 - $106,304 annually at Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice /CNM

$97,596 - $107,357annually at Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice /CNM

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
