The Phlebotomy Supervisor oversees phlebotomy operations across multiple satellite locations, ensuring consistent, high-quality specimen collection and patient care. This role provides leadership and support to phlebotomy staff, coordinates staffing and logistics across sites, and ensures compliance with clinical and regulatory standards. The supervisor serves as a liaison between laboratory services and clinic management, promoting efficiency, safety, and a positive patient experience throughout all locations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily phlebotomy operations across multiple satellite locations, ensuring consistent standards of care and service
  • Coordinate staffing schedules to meet patient volume and operational needs across multiple sites
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, WA DOH, OSHA, HIPAA)
  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for phlebotomy staff; support professional development and continuing education
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated patient concerns or procedural issues related to specimen collection
  • Conduct routine site visits to satellite locations to assess workflow, address challenges, and ensure alignment with clinic standards
  • Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment across all locations; ensure timely replenishment and proper maintenance
  • Collaborate with clinic leadership, lab personnel, and other departments to streamline processes and improve patient satisfaction
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new phlebotomy staff
  • Support quality assurance initiatives, including audits, incident reporting, and implementation of corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to staffing, compliance, and operational metrics

Duties integrated into all job functions:

  • Must follow written and oral instructions and complete routine tasks independently
  • Complete all compliance training, including but not limited to HIPAA/Privacy/Confidentiality/Non-Discrimination/Harassment/Integrity Statement and signed Agreements
  • Ensures confidentiality of patient information by following HIPAA guidelines and the organization's policies
  • Attends training to meet job position requirements and as needed or mandated by the organization's policies, Div. of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH), OSHA, L&I, and other state/federal regulations
  • Have regular and predictable attendance

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Phlebotomy Certificate program
  • Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-PBT) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within the first 30 days of employment
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program, a national certification from an approved organization, or a healthcare practitioner-approved phlebotomy training program
  • 2+ years of hands-on phlebotomy experience in a clinical or laboratory setting
  • Driver's License and access to reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity, working across multiple clinic sites and coordinating teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of phlebotomy procedures, specimen handling, and outpatient clinical workflows
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards, including CAP, WA DOH, CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols
  • Solid understanding of electronic health records (EHR), laboratory information systems (LIS), and scheduling systems
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and general computer systems to manage documentation, communication, and reporting across multiple clinic sites
  • Demonstrated skills in performing venipuncture and capillary collections on patients of all ages with professionalism and care
  • Solid leadership and team-building skills to manage staff across multiple locations
  • Experience in conflict resolution, coaching, and performance management
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and clinic leadership
  • Competence in using digital tools for scheduling, documentation, and data analysis
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee phlebotomy operations across several clinic locations while maintaining high standards of patient care and staff performance
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, managing time effectively, and adapting to changing clinic needs
  • Ability to assess staff competencies, provide feedback, and implement training or corrective actions
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate safety events and customer feedback in a timely and thorough manner, ensuring appropriate documentation, follow-up, and resolution
  • Ability to travel between sites and respond to operational issues in real time

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $48,700 $23.41 to $41.83 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
