Summary
Acting as a member of a multidisciplinary team with primary responsibility for coordinating the financial aspects of the department, including functioning as a financial counselor for patients, acting as a department resource and liaising with various third party entities. Provides support and guidance to junior staff.
Essential Functions
-Obtains detailed patient insurance benefit information, assists with verification of coverage, determines benefit coverage and explains it to patient and their families.
-Serves as a resource for patients and family members on financial matters, such as insurance authorization, billing, financial planning, and providing guidance to alternative healthcare insurance coverage choices.
-Obtains prior authorizations and follows-up with patients regarding financial process as appropriate.
-Collaborate with department heads, administrators, and finance teams to gather relevant financial information and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
-Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial policies.
-Provides guidance and mentorship to junior staff and leads onboarding, while also running huddles and managing the work queues.

Education
Associate's Degree Finance required or Associate's Degree Accounting required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Experience in financial management, budgeting, or a related role within the healthcare sector 2-3 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Familiarity with healthcare finance regulations and reimbursement models.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and mentorship skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and across departments.
