The University of Virginia's Department of Surgery seeks a Ph.D.-level Research Scientist to lead and expand research for the Trauma Program and the Global Surgery Program. This position offers equal emphasis on domestic trauma and international surgical systems, with projects spanning clinical outcomes, health systems performance, and surgical access. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping research priorities, securing funding, and mentoring the next generation of academic surgeons.

Minimum Requirements Education: Ph.D. or equivalent in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, global health, health services research, or related field. Experience: Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of independent research, scholarly publications, and presentations; proven experience mentoring trainees; and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Global health experience is preferred, and expertise in health systems research is valued. Physical Demands Primarily sedentary and computer-based; occasional domestic and international travel required. Position Compensation Range: $55,000.00 - $131,300.00 AnnualBenefits
