Position Summary

Under the direction of the facility Risk Director, the Risk Management Coordinator has responsibility for researching, coordinating, implementing, and following up on activities related to the hospital wide Risk Management Program. Specific activities encompass collecting and analyzing risk management and patient safety data, managing the complaint and grievance process, analysis of the data and recommendation of programs to mitigate risk and improve patient safety.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of the Corporate TERM Risk Management Program and Patient Safety Plan throughout all departments within TVH. Support the Director and Leadership team in areas such as issue identification, best practice analysis, implementation strategies, with monitoring and accountability to assess effectiveness.

  • Generate and develop reports linked to patient safety initiatives, reduction of adverse patient outcomes, and environmental risk factors. Analyzes information for tracking and trending purposes. This includes assisting with and documenting root cause analyses, proactive risk assessments, and action plans. Collaborates in ensuring that risk reduction strategies are completed in a timely manner.

  • Support the work of interdisciplinary work groups that work to avoid, eliminate and/or reduce risk and promote patient safety efforts. Oversees the risk event reporting system to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with system enhancements.
  • Ensure the components of the Risk Management Program run continuously in the absence of the Risk Director.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) License to practice in the State of Florida required.
  • Three (3) years' experience in healthcare risk/quality/insurance/medical staff fields required.

  • Cerner experience highly preferred
  • Effective communication skills
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Abililty to prioritize and manage workload to meet deadlines and productivity requirements
