Applications received after January 5, 2026, may be reviewed depending on search progress and needs, but are not guaranteed full consideration. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The University of Rhode Island's Feinstein College of Education (COEDU) seeks applicants for a non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant Professor in Education with a focus on coordinating the newly designed Doctorate in Education (EdD) program. This is a full-time, nine-month appointment beginning in Fall 2026. The search committee is particularly interested in candidates who, through their teaching, practice scholarship, and/or service, will enhance the College's commitment to equitable educational practices and academic excellence. The University of Rhode Island is a research-intensive university (Carnegie R1 research classification, as of January 2025) with a commitment to high-quality teaching and community partnerships. COEDU is a community of educational scholars, leaders, and practitioners with a shared commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion within and outside of schools, bridging research and practice, and serving diverse and underserved populations. URI's EdD program is anticipated to launch in fall 2026 to address the urgent and growing need for advanced educational leaders who can respond to the complexities of today's learning environments across education: PK-12, higher education, nonprofit, government, and industry settings to investigate complex problems of practice and implement evidence-informed solutions. This practice-focused, cohort-based doctoral program prepares scholar-practitioners to investigate complex problems of practice, synthesize diverse forms of evidence, and implement actionable, equity-centered solutions that improve learning and organizational outcomes. The curriculum emphasizes applied inquiry, implementation science, organizational learning, and leadership for change. All core EdD courses are delivered fully online to support working professionals, while applied focus electives may be taken online or in person, allowing students to tailor their learning to their professional goals. POSITION SUMMARY: The COEDU seeks a colleague who can effectively coordinate this multi-disciplinary program, collaborate with faculty across departments and colleges, and support students whose applied research interests vary widely. Candidates with expertise in quantitative and/or mixed-methods approaches are especially encouraged to apply, as these skills will strengthen students' ability to engage in high-quality applied research and data-informed decision-making. The ideal candidate will be committed to practice-based scholarship, student-centered advising, and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning community within this new doctoral program. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinating and advising students in the EdD program; teaching graduate and undergraduate courses including, but not limited to EdD core courses, such as change leadership, systems improvement, and education policy; supervising doctoral praxis projects design and completion; developing and maintaining an appropriate agenda of practice scholarship and funding; collaborating with COEDU graduate programs; and engaging in sustainable partnerships across PK-12, higher education, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and industry. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other duties as required, which may also include teaching courses and advising in additional programs in the College. LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Personal computers, printer, word processing, database management and spreadsheet software. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 1. Ph.D/Ed.D. in Education or closely related field (or expected completion of degree requirements prior to start of the fall 2026 semester). 2. Expertise in project and/or program management in an educational setting. 3. Evidence of success working with adult learners or practicing professionals. 4. Record of practice scholarship (i.e. applied research to improve professional practice and/or organizational performance) commensurate with level of experience. 5. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. 6. Proficiency in written communication skills. 7. Commitment to and/or experience in equity, social justice, and inclusion in education. 8.
