The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Senior Analyst is responsible for prioritizing the development and maintenance of systemwide dashboards, data visualizations, reports, and metrics for Emergency Medicine, Hospitalist Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine using business intelligence and data analytics tools. Once the data analytics needs of the EHM Service Line are met, the Application Analyst may work on other projects at the discretion of the Data and Analytics Team.

The Senior Analyst will work closely with the Director of Informatics & Analytics for the EHM Service Line and the RWJBH Data and Analytics Team to manage report libraries, assist with data request intake and triage, help provide data governance for published content, and optimize content delivery for Emergency Medicine, Hospitalist Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. The Senior Analyst will also prioritize the development and maintenance of data definitions, registries, and dictionaries to ensure consistent and standardized reporting across data platforms for these specialties.

The EHM Service Line manages three acute care specialties within the RWJBH hospital system: Emergency Medicine (at 13 locations), Hospitalist Medicine (at 12 locations), and Critical Care Medicine (at 12 locations).

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business or Information Sciences or 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 12 years experience in analytics, statistics, and/or data visualization
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in SQL and Cloud based technology
  • Minimum of 10 years experience working with EHR clinical data
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, facilitation/training skills, project management capabilities, and leadership orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, physicians, and other clinical/administrative staff

Preferred:

  • Minimum of two years of experience utilizing Tableau, SSMS, Snowflake and Epic
  • Experience working with emergency medicine and/or acute care data

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Epic reporting (Cogito) certifications. Applicant is expected to maintain certification as current by completing New Version Training (NVT), as applicable. To be completed within the first 6 months of hire.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 8:30am-4:30pm each day
  • Monday-Friday
  • Hybrid with in-person obligations a few times per month
  • Full Time

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for working collaboratively with the Director of Informatics & Analytics, Operations and IT teams to identify, design, curate, and manage key metrics for the EHM Service Line
  • Create data dictionaries and data models to effectively document and curate ED and inpatient metrics for throughput, staffing, utilization, billing, quality, patient safety, regulatory, and compliance
  • Develop dashboards and reports housed within a dynamic reporting inventory
  • Perform a thorough review of all requested build, content, and workflows prior to publication, including integrated testing as needed
  • Participate in system upgrade and maintenance activities, including monitoring the performance of existing data analytics processes and proactively troubleshooting performance issues in collaboration with the Data & Analytics team.
  • Assist application teams to review the proposed training curriculum for relevant reports
  • Directly assist service line staff to perform self-service reporting as needed
  • Streamline and automate data analytics processes wherever possible to maximize efficiency
  • Utilize external resources to stay updated on best practice builds and solutions
  • Participate in service line leadership, informatics, and data prioritization meetings as needed
  • Serve as a liaison between end users, technical teams, and service line leadership. This includes working with leadership and end-users to ensure that reports meet the service line's needs regarding project deliverables and timelines, and ensuring that appropriate stakeholders are involved in design, configuration, and testing sessions
  • Maintain version control and rigorous documentation by logging requests, decisions, and issues in the appropriate trackers. This includes Orion and Nova for Epic reporting (Cogito) upgrades and projects
  • Support the data governance needs of the service line, including developing the business case for data analytics decisions
  • Provide day-to-day tracking of project metrics and build milestones and ensuring they align with centralized data definitions and models, and assisting with updates where necessary
  • Follow the process for identification, tracking, resolution, and closure of all issues as well as providing recommendations for process improvement
