Responsibilities

This position will assist engineering and manufacturing in driving improvements in quality and delivery performance through process control and improvement initiatives while allowing for development in teamwork, project management and Engineering. This position will also be involved in all aspects of the process, from concept/scope development, CAD drawings, work breakdown structures/project planning, to execution/installation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Learning Howmet's EHS systems and applying them to the manufacturing plant floor to improve safety and overall working conditions of the employees
* Observing the plant's operations in a specific assigned area, and working with a senior member of the engineering staff as a mentor to complete assigned tasks
* Attending daily management meetings representing the engineering department with project updates and/or receiving new jobs
* Investigate, design, engineer, justify and implement improvement activities
* Using AutoCAD or SolidWorks, complete drawing updates
* Providing engineering innovations that will increase reliability and availability of the plant facilities
* Working closely with Production, Planning, and other departments (Purchasing, Maintenance, or outside vendors) to plan work activities
* Performing root cause analysis with the goal to eliminate maintenance downtime
* Continuing to learn the craft of electrical engineering (project and reliability engineering)

Qualifications
  • Student must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
