THE POSITION

The Department of Intellectual Disabilities is responsible for the administration and oversight of waivers for individuals with ID/Autism. Lehigh County currently has open ID Program Specialist 1 positions to support individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism in leading rich, meaningful, and self-directed lives within their communities Come join our team and help us improve the lives of those with Intellectual Disabilities.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The employee, in conjunction with other Administrative Entity (AE) staff, performs key administrative functions that ensure compliance with state and county quality standards and service timeliness requirements as outlined in the State and County Operating Agreement. These responsibilities are directly tied to the state's allocation of administrative funding to the ID/Autism program at the county level.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct intake interviews and review documentation (e.g., psychological evaluations, medical records, proof of residency) to verify eligibility for ID/A services in accordance with ODP regulations and county procedures
  • Administer adaptive assessments as needed and ensure proper documentation of eligibility determinations
  • Provide information, guidance, and technical assistance to individuals and families regarding available supports, service options, and eligibility processes
  • Review, approve, and authorize Individual Support Plans (ISPs) to ensure alignment with assessed needs, available resources, and funding limitations
  • Ensure compliance with all ODP policies and procedures related to service approval, authorization, and billing
  • Collaborate with Supports Coordination Organizations (SCOs), providers, and families to address service gaps or barriers to implementation
  • Coordinate with other human service systems and community agencies to promote integrated, person-centered supports

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in the field of intellectual disabilities, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
