The Systems Engineer Manager will lead a team of systems engineers to design, develop, and maintain complex systems that meet business and customer requirements. This role ensures technical excellence, fosters collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to include subcontractors, and drives continuous improvement in the system design and integration processes.

The Systems Engineer Manager will serve as a technical navigator and integrator, fostering transparency, shared understanding, and cross-functional cohesion through strong communication skills and system-level thinking.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of systems engineers, providing guidance on technical and professional development.
  • Allocate technical resources to meet project timelines and deliverables.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and accountability.
  • Oversee the development of system architecture, designs, requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct system-level analysis and trade studies to optimize performance and cost.
  • Collaborate with project managers to define scope, schedule and budget.
  • Monitor progress and resolve technical issues to keep projects on track.
  • Prepare and present status reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Implement best practices for system validation, verification and risk management.
  • Ensure alignment and compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

  • Works directly with engineering design, software and operations teams.
  • Act as the technical liaison between internal teams and external partners/vendors.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering, test engineering or multidisciplinary product development, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience with Engineering Requirements Management DOORS (DOORS) or other leading requirements management tools.
  • Proven experience leading system-level requirements definition, architecture development, and cross-functional integration.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements traceability, interface management, risk management, and verification/validation planning.
  • Must be U.S. citizen, holding no dual citizenships.

Preferred Certifications

  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • Onsite position at the BGS corporate office in Oak Ridge, TN.
  • Schedule is full-time, Monday - Friday 40-hour work week.
