CLA is currently seeking an Assurance Principal or Signing Director to join our Chicago office in our Real Estate practice. The role contributes at the highest level in their industry and excels at client advisory, service advocacy, relationship development, and leadership.

How you'll create opportunities in this role:

  • Lead and grow a book of business that currently includes work served by real estate Client Relationship Leaders (CRLs) in other geographies and non-real estate industry-aligned CRLs in Chicago.
  • Establish and expand our real estate industry presence in Chicago and greater Illinois-a market with substantial growth potential in private industries and real estate.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and collaborate with real estate industry personnel across multiple geographies, while maintaining a sharp focus on developing and retaining local talent to build a sustainable team in Chicago.
  • Collaborate with national and regional leaders to develop strategy, identify market opportunities, and position the firm as a trusted advisor in real estate assurance.
  • This will be an in-office position

What you will need:

  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • You have a minimum of 8+ years of public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement preparation and audits.
  • Proven experience managing complex assurance engagements within the real estate industry
  • Deep expertise in real estate fund audits (ASC 946), fair value measurement (ASC 820), and key accounting standards such as ASC 842, with ability to apply advanced valuation methodologies and risk-based audit procedures
  • You have a strong focus on funds and fair value assessments
  • CPA license is required.

Compensation Strategy

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.

The compensation range for this position in IL is$150,000 - $270,000
