Job Overview
Performs general painting and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair or upgrade all facilities, structures, equipment, parts, and tools. Responsible for equipment and tools to perform such work. Keeps Lead informed of unique situations and problems encountered. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Work may be in permit- required confined spaces or at heights up to 80 feet. This position has been designated as Mission Critical work. If called or re-called to work during times when Mission Critical work must be performed, employee must respond to duties as assigned. Work hours are subject to change, with weekend work or overtime work as needed. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Performs a variety of painting, corrosion control, and related functions. Paint and redecorate interior or exterior walls, all types of woodwork, parts tools, and fixtures.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old finish or placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices.
- Apply paint with brushes, rollers, spray guns or other methods as required
- Assists other crafts and trade personnel in their daily operations.
- Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
- Follow established safety procedures and use safety protective equipment and clothing as required.
- Ensure proper housekeeping practices are observed.
- Working closely and harmoniously with fellow workers
- Follow all Federal, State and Local Safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains and operates company vehicles and/or tools and equipment in compliance with company policy.
- Supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of Safety, including training, safety protective equipment and clothing, and adhering to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Participates in snow removal operations.
- Other duties as assigned
Accountable for:
- Timely, accurate, cost-effective performance of duties.
- Compliance with contract requirements and CGS/CCSL policies and procedures, including Rules of Conduct.
- Working closely and harmoniously with fellow workers
- Adherence to all safety and health rules and regulations
- Prudent management of Government Furnished Property (GFP) assigned to and under employee's jurisdiction.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/ common access card.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Ability to pass drug screen and background check.
- Five years journeyman painter.
- Knowledge of surface peculiarities and type of paint required for different applications.
- General knowledge of hand and power tools.
Preferred:
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Work experience supporting a military base or civilian installation.
Working Conditions:
- This position has been designated Mission Critical Work. If called or recalled to work during times when Mission Critical work must be performed, the employee must respond to assigned duties.
- Work hours are subject to change, with extended schedules, weekend and/or holiday work as needed and required by the contract.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subjected to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
- Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm, diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, dust odors, and elevated noise level.
- Tasks may be performed in uneven, inclined, hard and soft-carpeted surfaces/floors, cement structures and surfaces.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to use tools, equipment, chemicals, pesticides, etc. to perform essential functions of the job.
- Ability to use standard office equipment/tools as may be required for the position (computer, phone, copy machine, hand-held radio, etc.)
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use of hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands or arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and follow safe lifting procedures. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
- May be required to enter confined spaces.
