The Opportunity

  • Process safety engineer at a growth-oriented energy company
  • Rapidly integrate into the organization through collaboration with much of the Refinery, including operations; health, safety, security, and environmental; process engineering; and projects
  • Enjoy exposure to site and corporate leadership as the main point of contact for activities that relate to process safety engineering and program delivery while developing technical and leadership competencies
  • Collaborate with peers at other company facilities
  • Reporting to the Safety Supervisor, you will help manage and reduce process safety risk and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable regulations

Key activities include:

  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities
  • Review and advise on Management of Change (MOC) activities to ensure risks are appropriately characterized and acceptable mitigations are identified and maintained
  • Support operations with management of the Operating Envelopes and Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Support PHA revalidation program delivery
  • Support HAZOP action owners with developing and delivering actions closure plans
  • Support incident investigation for process safety related events, lead investigation teams as appropriate
  • Serve as lead for classifying Process Safety Incidents per AFPM 754
  • Serve as the point of contact for facility siting, consequence modeling, and high consequence scenario mitigation, and maintenance of critical safeguards
  • Utilize engineering skills, knowledge, and experience to recommend and select options to reduce risk
  • Focus on maintaining safe, reliable, and compliant operations and delivery of performance targets
  • Maintain the refinery's risk portfolio to help the site manage risk and prioritize risk mitigation activities
  • Develop and deliver action plans to manage emerging risks and actions identified as part of risk assessment processes

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or equal level by demonstrated industrial experience required
  • Master's degree in chemical engineering preferred
  • At least 5 years of process safety engineering experience required
  • 3+ years of experience with HAZOP, LOPA, bowtie risk assessment, and related risk management activities preferred
