Environmental Compliance Technician ll

Location: Silverdale, Washington (Bangor)

Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-time

Compensation: $39.60-$39.60/hr

HMG is seeking a detail-oriented and compliance-driven Environmental Compliance Technician II. The primary duties include performing inspections and documenting results in accordance with Navy requirements. This role carries a high level of compliance responsibility under WA State Dangerous Waste Regulations, EPA Federal Rules, and Navy standards. Additional duties include assisting with hazardous waste pickups, processing, shipment, spill response, and pump truck operations for waste or septic collection as needed.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform environmental sampling, field testing, and documentation for wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, and other regulated materials.

  • Conduct sampling per Navy, EPA, and WA State requirements; maintain accurate operating records, logs, and reports.

  • Coordinate sample events with laboratories, prepare purchase requests, perform QA/QC, and transmit results to the Navy within required timeframes.

  • Collect stormwater samples in accordance with Navy SWPPP and MS4 plans; prepare and submit stormwater reports.

  • Maintain supplies, sampling equipment, and electronic databases; ensure timely and accurate data entry and deliverables.

  • Design and execute sampling plans; advise customers on appropriate lab methods and sampling techniques.

  • Support compliance with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) regulations.

  • Maintain working knowledge of Navy Environmental Compliance Handbooks, Hazardous Waste Management Plans, and Tessera's Environmental Protection Plan (EPP).

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring environmental programs and quality assurance plans in support of the Navy contract.

  • Investigate and assist in developing corrective and preventive actions for environmental compliance issues or potential violations.

Qualifications:

  • Highschool/Diploma GED is required.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Environmental/closely related field,

  • Must possess the required environmental certifications relevant to the job.

  • Must be able to complete the Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste Handling Course [HAZWOPR] or similar.

  • First Aid/CPR Certification and OSHA series of training required.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties. Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
