The Opportunity

Genentech is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Head of the US Lab for AURORA. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the operational excellence and strategic growth of our in-house content engine. As the Head of the US Lab, you will be pivotal in shaping the future of content creation at Genentech, ensuring that the AURORA Lab becomes a vital partner to the Marketing and Digital, Data, and Analytics (DDA) organizations.

You will lead the US-based operations of the AURORA Lab, with a mandate to not only deliver high-quality, compliant marketing content with industry-leading speed and efficiency but also to expand the Lab's footprint and influence across the wider Genentech organization. This role requires a leader who can build strong partnerships, drive innovation, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You will work in close partnership with the Director, Marketing Creative Execution Lead, to ensure seamless integration between creative strategy and operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Partnership:

  • Define and execute the strategic vision for the US Content Lab, aligning its capabilities with the evolving needs of the Marketing and DDA organizations.

  • Act as the primary relationship owner for the AURORA Lab within the US, cultivating and growing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders across the Genentech organization.

  • Champion the AURORA Lab's value proposition, proactively identifying opportunities to expand its services and deepen its integration with brand marketing and other functional areas.

  • Develop and manage the US Lab's budget, resource planning, and performance metrics, reporting on progress to key stakeholders.

2. Operational Excellence & Team Leadership:

  • Lead the strategic evolution of the AURORA Lab's operating model, overseeing the transition from the current state to a future state designed for high-volume production.

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the US Lab, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of all content projects.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for all operational issues, providing clear direction and timely resolution.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of content professionals, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

  • Implement and manage a robust system for daily and weekly reporting of ticket volumes, throughput, and other key performance indicators to ensure transparency and drive continuous improvement.

3. Collaboration & Integration:

  • Work in close partnership with the Director, Marketing Creative Execution Lead, to align on a shared vision, roadmap, and implementation plan for content excellence.

  • Collaborate with brand marketing to identify opportunities to optimize impact and improve efficiency across creative execution.

  • Ensure seamless integration with external partners and vendors, managing operational touchpoints and workflows to maximize efficiency and quality.

Who You Are

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree; MBA or other related graduate-level degree and12+ years of marketing experience in relevant industries.

  • You have working experience in the managed care, Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry/pharmaceutical or biotech customer engagement teams.

  • You have experience running content operations at scale for large pharma and/or agency experience and applied Lean six sigma or equivalent agile process at scale

  • You have experience in creating marketing strategies, plans, and tactics that have strengthened market positioning and financial results.

  • Prior experience in managing relationships with external vendors and partners required, direct agency of record experience preferred.

  • You have extensive experience in content creation workflows across digital channels.

  • You have experience facilitating cross-functional engagement, relationship building and collaboration.

  • You have strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.

  • You are familiar with regulatory requirements for digital content in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • You possess strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills with proven attention to detail.

  • You have a proven track record of executing large-scale, highly strategic initiatives and have the ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment

  • You have a strong understanding of digital marketing trends, technologies, and best practices.

Location:

  • This position is based in South San Francisco, CA

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of CA, is $187,100 - $347,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
