FACILITIES TECHNICIAN, KITCHEN EQUIPMENT (STARLINK) - LEVEL 4/5

SpaceX is leveraging our experience building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation and most advanced broadband internet system. We provide reliable and fast internet to millions of users worldwide, including populations with little or no connectivity, rural communities, aircraft, watercraft, and places where existing services are unreliable, too expensive, or disconnected by natural disasters. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system, thousands of satellites and consumer antennae that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing. The Starlink team is seeking out the best-in-class professionals to maximize Starlink's potential for communities and businesses around the globe.

This position is responsible for supporting equipment maintenance and repair for SpaceX's Food Services department. This includes but is not limited to the following: Advanced troubleshooting, advanced assembly and installation, performing and developing preventative maintenance routines, and intermediate repair work.

This individual must possess good organizational skills and the ability to manage team workloads and time management in a dynamic and collaborative team environment. You will provide follow-up communication and documentation of workload to customers, vendors, and facility leadership, ensuring all departmental equipment is functional, safe, and accessible for daily operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Collaborate with engineers, managers, and customers to maintain systems in peak operating condition, and to develop/update detailed work instructions for proper equipment preventative maintenance dedicated to ensuring zero unplanned interruption in services to employees and customers
  • Perform hands-on shop work and/or on-site disassembly, inspection, reporting, cleaning, troubleshooting, reassembly, and testing of kitchen and other mechanical equipment
  • Perform and develop routine preventative maintenance and cleaning schedules for Food Services equipment to company and vendor standards on equipment including, but not limited to: Ice machines, walk-in coolers/freezers, soda/drink machines, flat top grills, fryers, ovens, sinks, and display coolers
  • Maintain, respond to, action, and follow up on departmental maintenance tickets generated inside and outside of department, prioritizing workload based on criticality as-needed
  • Provide troubleshooting and issues reports directly to vendors, service technicians, and leadership
  • Escort vendors to necessary work areas for assessment and repair
  • Perform intermediate to advanced assembly, installation, and repairs on equipment using a variety of hand and power tools
  • Use forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and hand carts to receive and/or move equipment, products, or parts to designated areas
  • Identify and source parts and equipment for department upon request
  • Maintain tools and equipment inventory for department with limited to no supervision
  • Maintain a tidy and organized work area
  • Ensure work and used materials are in compliance with manufacturer specifications
  • Follow and ensure site compliance with all applicable SpaceX, local, state, and federal building codes, regulations, and laws


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate
  • 4+ years of professional experience in a workshop, warehouse, maintenance, production, or food service operation


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • 7+ years of experience in a workshop, warehouse, maintenance, production, or food service operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems down to the component level
  • Familiar with Texas Department of State Health Servicesfood safety, sanitation practices,standards, and criteria
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical language in specifications, schematics, and blueprints
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to generate service reports and communicate within the company including skills to navigate web-based service literature and programs
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced-high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction
  • Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical work
  • Experience training and mentoring others in technical roles


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Willing to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed


    • Schedule A: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Monday - Friday)


  • Schedule may vary depending on site operational needs and flexibility is required regarding overtime and weekend support
  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small opening and climbing hand over hand, lifting up to 25 lbs. unassisted, and working on ladders/lifts at elevated heights
  • Ability to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
  • Must be willing to work onsite, remote work not considered
