Description
The Department of English and Modern Language is seeking a Spanish lecturer who will primarily teach Elementary and Intermediate Spanish language courses. At Lipscomb, we emphasize use of the target language in all instruction. Ideal candidates will have experience creating interactive courses that build a passion in students for language study and an appreciation for learning about people from other places. Elementary courses will include both comprehensible input and explicit grammar instruction in the target language. Teachers are encouraged to provide opportunities for speaking and developing cultural competence. Lecturers might also occasionally teach upper division courses (including Advanced Conversation & Phonetics, Advanced Grammar and Composition, Spanish Civilization or Literature, and Spanish-American Civilization or Literature). The lecturer will collaborate with and support adjunct faculty and will be coached by senior language faculty to ensure impact and curricular cohesion. The candidate must have a Masters' degree or M.A.T. in Spanish, and preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience at the college level. Additional important skills are taking initiative to implement creative lessons, building community with colleagues and students within the EML department, and encouraging students to minor in language or participate in our summer program in Oviedo, Spain.
