Job Description:
We're looking for a full-time, staff ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, Projects to join the Mason & Hanger team.
We are looking for a fully competent engineer, who will gain mastery over an entire project, beable to function as the lead engineer (Discipline Lead) on small to medium scale projects and/or completely engineer complex systems on large/campus scale projects. This role will regularly function as the Responsible Engineer Of Record accountable for the technical sufficiency of some or all electrical department project deliverables - limits of responsibility to be determined in concert with more senior department leadership.
As the ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, Projects, here's the work you'll do:
* Create and/or direct others to create edit and check project documents to include plans and BIM models, specifications, and support documents (basis of design) * Checks work delegated to other engineers and designers on project to ensure scope is documented successfully; serves as Discipline Lead * Performing complex engineering calculations; designs systems and completes equipment selection * Manage electrical department scope for project * Main point of contact to clients for electrical department project responsibilities (meetings, conference calls, comment review/responses, etc.) Perform ITRs, travel for meetings and site investigations, cost estimates, and other tasks as required
* Complying with data protection principles while handling personal, protected and / or Covered Defense Information on behalf of Day & Zimmermann. Data Handlers should be trained to follow documented policies, standard operating procedures and secure practices associated with protecting trusted employee and customer data.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
* Skilled and able to direct others in all aspects electrical design and the preparation of all types of engineering and construction documents including lighting, power, and telecommunications; thorough knowledge and understanding of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), ASHRAE 90.1 and other energy codes, and client design criteria (UFCs, OBO Design Standards, GSA), and familiar with the Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM); skilled and able to direct others to use engineering calculations spreadsheets and SKM Power*Tools to model and perform fault calculations; Knowledge of other building systems and how they coordinate with electrical systems * Gaining command of the overall department project scope in pursuit of becoming an independent front line project leader (Sr. Engineer); has mastered the primary design methods and calculations; understands the diverse design process and has strong project experience from inception to substantial completion; has basic understanding of both disciplines within department (electrical and telecommunications); developing command of department policies and administration including proposal preparation. * Works with other engineers, disciplines and project managers to ensure quality, and to verify successful execution of the project; responsible as client facing representative of electrical department and begins to participate in business development activities; actively supports project manager and department leadership with design scope modifications for assigned projects. Actively manages project cost throughout the design. Ensures design constructability and coordination with other disciplines necessary for a successful construction project. Ensures all electrical CA responsibilities for project are handled successfully. * Interpersonal savvy and willingness/ability to communicate effectively (oral and writing) with M&H team members as well as clients; able to take direction and guidance from more senior staff within company, and able to provide direction and guidance to less senior staff within department. * Must build trusted relationships with department through maintaining ownership for assigned work and delivering efficient and high quality results. Expected to be a proactive learner, responsible to seek out support when needed, identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities. Maintains professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success. Is expected to know their own technical limitations and proactively seek out support where needed while maintaining their lead role for the project. Other duties as assigned. And if you have these qualifications:
* BS/BA degree in in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; Degree must be ABET accredited, or acceptable to the State Board of Engineers for licensure as a professional engineer. Master's degree preferred * 6+ years experience, including 2 years of stamping/drawing * PE required * Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) preferred, LEED AP Preferred * Great attitude and team player. * Successful completion of drug and background screening process. * Eligibility Requirement: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance; therefore, U.S. citizenship is required under applicable federal regulations and contract terms.
In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $93,600 - $140,400. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
