MS365 Collaboration Engineer

Orbis is seeking an experienced Collaboration Specialist to design, build, and customize modern SharePoint Online solutions and business process automations across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. The primary focus of this role is development (using SPFx, Power Platform, and custom scripting), while the candidate will also serve as the technical administrator for the collaboration environment. You will be maintaining the health of the tenants, including SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams administration.

Key Responsibilities


SharePoint Development & Automation (Primary Focus)

  • Design and develop custom SharePoint solutions - preferably using the SharePoint Framework (SPFx).
  • Create and maintain low-code solutions using the Power Platform (Power Apps for custom forms and Power Automate for complex workflows).
  • Implement modern UI/UX customizations using JSON View Formatting for lists and libraries.
  • Utilize PowerShell and PnP PowerShell to script repetitive tasks, automate provisioning, and manage bulk updates across the tenant.
  • Translate business requirements into technical architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure.
  • Develop integrations between SharePoint, Teams, and third-party applications using Microsoft Graph API and webhooks.


Platform Administration (Secondary Focus)

  • Administer SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams environments, ensuring proper configuration, security, and governance.
  • Manage OneDrive storage policies and sync client configurations.
  • Provide Tier 1/2 support for issues related to site permissions, OneDrive sync issues, Teams configuration, and custom solution errors.

Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3-4 years of experience in general SharePoint development, including Client-Side Object Model (CSOM) and Power Platform (Power Apps/Power Automate), with 2-3 years of experience using SPFx.
  • 2-3 years of experience administering SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) for user management, security group administration, and conditional access policies.
  • Solid foundation in front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.


Skills & Qualifications



  • Proficiency in Power Platform, JSON, and PnP PowerShell.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, specifically the interaction between SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Entra ID.
  • Experience with Microsoft Graph API for building integrations and automations.
  • Experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx), React, and TypeScript.
  • Ability to balance development projects with operational maintenance and administrative responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Azure services (Azure Functions, Logic Apps) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for debugging custom workflows, troubleshooting sync issues, and resolving site-level problems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.


Physical Requirements



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings.
  • Ability to attend planned meetings within the Washington Metro Area region.
