Precise Systems seeks a PRP Chemical Technician to join a diverse, multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers. This Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) technician position involves hands-on work with hazardous chemical materials. The technician shall wear personal protective equipment (PPE, lab coat, safety glasses, etc) and will require the candidate to enter the CPRP (Chemical Personnel Reliability Program) to work with the hazardous chemical materials. The technician shall demonstrate proficiency in a chemical laboratory environment, a willingness to learn new skills and methods, and solid technical communications skills; all requirements for this position.

Duties:



  • Requires chemical surety laboratory technical experience and expertise, technical laboratory work, and programmatic support for applied research, technology evaluation, methodology development and systems development to defeat a chemical threat and to evaluate materials.
  • This position will work in the areas of chemical detection, chemical protective materials, and decontamination.
  • Provide qualified surety laboratory, technical, programmatic, and administrative services.
  • Conduct hands on chemical work on chemical agents, emerging threat agents, experimental agents, and toxic industrial compounds.
  • Decontamination, chemical inventory management and waste disposal support.
  • Laboratory Logistics Services.
  • Technical expertise in infrastructure readiness support.
  • Laboratory test support.
  • Other assigned duties.


Required Education:




  • High School diploma or GED




Required Experience:



  • Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in a design or shop environment.
  • Previous experience in CPRP or working with hazardous chemical materials is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with other teammates
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and expand abilities
  • Able to assist other technicians and scientists with handling and packaging hazardous waste for turn-in
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to assist with other duties as assigned
  • Ability to complete additional training as assigned
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance


Desired Skills and Qualifications:



  • Previous experience wearing chemical protective suits/Mission Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) gear or hazardous waste management
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment with hazardous chemicals or hazardous waste management
  • Previous experience supporting research and/or testing of CBRN protection commodities


Work Environment:



  • This job operates in a professional office environment and research laboratory spaces. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and standard laboratory equipment such as chemical wastes, biological materials, reagents, containment hoods and specialized research equipment.


Physical Demands:



  • This job operates in a professional office environment and research laboratory spaces. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and standard laboratory equipment such as chemical wastes, biological materials, reagents, large-scale test chambers, containment hoods and specialized research equipment. Must be able to move / lift a variety of containers including drums, barrels, bags, and boxes up to 50 lbs. This position requires use of PPE for extended periods of time.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:



  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a an hour for lunch.


Travel:



  • No overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Some occasional local day travel may be necessary.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $56,028.11 to $84,042.17 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
