Primary Purpose of Department
As one of eight (8) divisions campus wide, the Athletics department supports 19 sports teams, including baseball, men's and women's basketball, football, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, volleyball and lacrosse.


The Charlotte 49ers athletics teams compete on the NCAA Division I level and are members of the American Conference


Within Athletics, the Administration unit provides oversight of all budgetary, compliance, events/facilities, sports marketing, and ticket operations.
Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations, the Director of Athletics Business Operations will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Charlotte Athletics Business Office. The Director of Athletics Business Operations must possess advanced troubleshooting skills as well as demonstrate a commitment to customer service and continuous improvement. Work must be done independently, with a strong attention to detail, to manage multiple projects and meet department deadlines.
Summary of Position Responsibilities

  • Oversight of department purchasing lifecycle. Function as best practice leader and address policy and process questions to assist departmental staff with complex purchasing requests.
  • Provide training and resources to effectively manage the purchasing process.
  • Review all purchase requisitions within the university purchasing system (49er Mart) to ensure accurate accounting and documentation.
  • Works with internal and external parties to ensure contracts are executed and managed in accordance with UNC Charlotte, UNC System, and North Carolina state regulations.
  • Consult with Purchasing Services, the Office of Legal Affairs, Tax, Enterprise Risk Management, and other resources, as appropriate.
  • Serve as the primary business office liaison for purchase orders, invoices, and reimbursement
  • processing for Charlotte 49ers Ventures
  • Prepare monthly budget reports for distribution to Charlotte 49ers Ventures and Athletic Foundation leadership.
  • Create invoices and track accounts receivable for Charlotte 49ers Ventures Corporate Sponsorship billing lifecycle.
  • Oversee all revenue accounting for the athletics department.
  • Partner with the Athletics Ticket Office to reconcile all ticketing and game parking sales to third third-party ticket sales system (Paciolan).

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field and
  • Two years of experience in accounting, business operations, and/or finance roles, or an
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Accounting or business operations experience within the higher education, athletics, or entertainment/hospitality industry.

  • NCAA Division I athletics business office.
  • Familiarity with Banner Finance and Concur Travel or a related enterprise level system.
  • Familiarity with Paciolan ticketing system or a related enterprise-level system.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Professionalism, composure, and an ability to communicate clearly, and effectively.
