Job Summary

The Structured Cabling Project Manager is responsible for managing all phases of structured cabling and low-voltage projects, including copper, fiber optic, and integrated security systems. This role oversees the full project lifecycle-from planning and procurement to execution, quality assurance, and closeout documentation-ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards and client requirements. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients and coordinates closely with technicians, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain high-quality outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of structured cabling and low-voltage project delivery from presales through closeout
  • Develop detailed project schedules, labor plans, and material forecasts
  • Coordinate field resources, subcontractors, and technicians for installation of Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, fiber systems, and security devices
  • Ensure compliance with BICSI and TIA/EIA standards and client specifications
  • Oversee installation of access control systems and security platforms (Axis, Avigilon, Vicon, Galaxy, OpenPath, Genetec)
  • Monitor project budgets, track labor and material costs, and prepare progress reports
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Serve as the primary client contact throughout project execution to ensure satisfaction
  • Obtain, review, and process change orders for scope adjustments
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support billing and invoicing processes
  • Conduct regular site visits for safety inspections and quality assurance
  • Review field reports, budget trackers, project milestones, and billing schedules weekly
  • Support business growth by identifying additional low-voltage service opportunities such as AV, DAS, Security, and Wireless systems
  • Assist field leads when necessary and provide guidance on cabling and device installation
  • Manage material ordering, inventory, and allocation across multiple projects
  • Track and manage technician work hours for accurate labor reporting


Job Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience managing structured cabling or low-voltage projects
  • Proven experience leading large commercial or multisite cabling projects
  • Strong background in low-voltage cabling and access control systems
  • Familiarity with security platforms such as Axis, Avigilon, Vicon, Galaxy, OpenPath, and Genetec
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred
  • RCDD certification strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with project tracking software and construction documentation
  • Ability to review CAD drawings, site layouts, and riser diagrams
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Physical ability to conduct on-site inspections and field evaluations


Education

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred


Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5-10 years managing structured cabling or low-voltage projects
  • Experience overseeing large-scale commercial or multisite installations


Additional Job Details

  • Must comply with all safety regulations and company policies
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines
