Job Purpose

Overall responsibility for end-to-end management of enterprise and project-level risks across all phases of the New York Electric Capital Portfolio. The scope for the position can include, but is not limited to, Complex and Non-Complex Specific projects and programs. The primary responsibilities will be to identify, assess, develop mitigation strategies and monitor risks across the capital projects to ensure successful delivery on schedule, within scope and on budget. The role will also develop and roll-out a risk management program for incorporation into formal policies and procedures.

The Manager, Risk Management will join the NY Electric's Project Management Office (PMO) and report directly to the PMO Director. The position will work closely with both peers within the NY Electric PMO (Process and Governance, Project Controls, Document Controls), but also with divisional project execution leadership across NY East, West and Central.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive risk management strategies, frameworks, and tools for NY Electric capital projects and programs.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, including cost and schedule risk assessments.
  • Facilitate regular risk identification and assessment sessions with project teams (project managers, engineering, construction, estimating, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and teams to develop risk mitigation plans and monitor risk triggers, risk retirement.
  • Track and report on key risk indicators and trends across project portfolio.
  • Support executive reporting with risk dashboards and summaries, enabling informed decision-making.
  • In collaboration with other PMO functions, ensure PM's are maintaining risk registers and risk-related documentation.
  • Ensure risk management practices are integrated into formal processes, governance procedures and policies.
  • Provide training, guidance to project team members on risk management principles and best practices.
  • Coordinate with corporate risk, compliance, legal and safety teams to align project risk efforts with enterprise risk policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years experience in risk management on capital projects, project management, engineering. Preferred experience in utility or energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and frameworks.
  • Understanding of project lifecycle stages in large infrastructure/utility projects (initiation to closeout).
  • Knowledge of contractual risks, including EPC contracts, design-bid-build and MSA contracts.
  • Awareness of environmental, permitting and regulatory risks associated with utility infrastructure projects.
  • Financial literacy, including cost control, budgeting and understanding of project finance structures.
  • Experience with quantitative risk analysis models.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate risk insights to senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Understanding of probabilistic risk modeling and statistical methods.
