Job Summary

The Associate Director of Finance, EVCPO reports to the Director of Finance, EVCPO and is a critical member of the EVCPO Business Services Finance team. The Associate Director oversees all operational and student support resources, budget development and monitoring, forecasts, financial reporting and analysis, decision support, internal financial controls and compliance, and various other fiscal responsibilities for Education & Student Affairs (ESA) and Graduate Education & Postdoctoral Affairs (GEPA) as well as for the new Student Support Control Point. These units provide services and resources to graduate academic and professional students and postdocs to support them in reaching their health professions degrees and research objectives.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $144,000 - $216,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost Organization (EVCPO) Business Services team provides centralized financial management, accounting operations and procurement services, human resources coordination, and administrative services to the offices of the Chancellor (CO), Vice Chancellor for Opportunity and Outreach (VCO&O), Ethics & Compliance (E&C), and Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost (EVCP) and their subunits, departments, and programs. Serving over 1,000 FTE with a combined annual budget of approximately $300M, the services provided include planning and strategic budget development, financial reporting and analysis, financial transactional processing and purchasing, access administration, and internal controls compliance, as well as support of human resources activities in coordination with the central campus human resources organization.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
• 8+ years of progressive, directly related work experience in finance, accounting, and/or post-award administration in higher education/academic health care/large research institution setting
• Comprehensive knowledge of finance and budget policies, practices and systems; budgeting and reporting techniques; fund accounting; human resource planning; accounting and bookkeeping
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; ability to interact with diverse populations
• Client services oriented, good listening, critical thinking, and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources
• Advanced working knowledge of UCSF financial systems and reporting tools

• Professional certification preferred
