As aSenior Control Systems Developer, you'll design, program, and implement advanced control systems that support industrial automation projects across multiple industries. You'll serve as a key technical resource-translating project requirements into reliable, well-designed control solutions and supporting successful start-up in the field.

You won't work alone; you'll collaborate closely with Project Managers, Analysts, and other technical team members. But you will take ownership of significant portions of the control system and bring deep expertise in PLC, HMI, and industrial software development.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead the design and programming of major components of control systems with minimal supervision.
  • Work with project teams to define system scope, functionality, documentation, screens/graphics, and startup needs.
  • Program, test, troubleshoot, and document PLC/HMI/PC-based control systems.
  • Apply advanced expertise in at least two of the following: PLC programming, HMI development, hardware configuration, or database management.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot PC/PLC hardware, industrial networks, and system components.
  • Support system commissioning and startup at customer sites-independently when needed.
  • Provide operator training and customer support, including occasional after-hours assistance.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer information.
  • Contribute to programming standards, technical design reviews, and project estimating.
  • Assist in mentoring and developing other team members.

  • Strong understanding of PLCs, HMIs, industrial PCs, networks, and control system architecture.


Knowledge and Expertise for this Role



  • Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) from four-year college or university with an emphasis in some branch of Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, etc.) or Associate's degree (A.A., A.S.) from a two-year community college or technical school with an emphasis in Instrumentation and Controls preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and related experience/training
  • 5+ years of experience in programming in the Industrial Environment, implementing Industrial Control Software (Startup) and experience in dealing with customers regarding system requirements
  • Experience with object oriented programming, user interface development, database systems, and system integration


Location: This position may be based at one of Interstates' office locations, with potential hybrid flexibility depending on project needs.

Travel: The amount of travel will vary according to business requirements (may be up to 35%).
