Position Summary: The VHT Consultant I supports the design, assessment, and modernization of elevator and escalator systems. This position is ideal for an early career elevator professional and will work across a range of sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, and government to provide field assessments, design development, technical insight, and learn the VHT assessment & design domain. This position offers a mix of field-based elevator assessments and inspections, report writing, client interaction, and internal collaboration in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and requires strict adherence to all relevant elevator field safety practices.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Assist with field assessments, maintenance audits, modernization surveys, and inspections under guidance.
  • Draft maintenance and modernization surveys specifications with supervision.
  • Review basic submittals and shop drawings for compliance.
  • Contribute to construction drawings.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings with support.
  • Support new elevator design by preparing base layouts, code research and technical data under direction of more senior consultants.
  • Assist with traffic studies by compiling building data and inputting into Elevate or other software under supervision


  • Support client interactions by attending meetings and preparing notes.
  • Provide timely updates and draft technical recommendations.
  • Prepare basic reports, lists and proposals.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams by sharing data and insights.
  • Participate in design reviews and learn coordination practices.
  • Seek feedback to ensure deliverable quality.
  • Provide input on new design coordination efforts as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Support proposal efforts by contributing technical content.
  • Identify potential opportunities through project involvement.
  • Assist with scoping and planning and forecasting under direction of more senior consultants.
  • Provide baseline technical input for pursuits involving new elevator design



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management preferred
  • 0-2 years of experience in the elevator/escalator industry (OEM, maintenance, modernization) or 4 or more years of experience without a bachelor's degree in a preferred field
  • Working knowledge of ASME A17.1, A17.2, NFPA 70, and IBC
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specs, and construction documents with support from senior staff
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and project platforms such as ClickUp and Procore
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience writing or reviewing specifications
  • Willingness to obtain OSHA 10/30 or other site safety credentials
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Regular travel to client sites and construction zones
  • Must be able to traverse ladders and access hoist ways, pits, and mechanical rooms
  • Exposure to typical jobsite conditions: noise, dust, and moving equipment
  • Ability to move up to 50 lbs. and work in confined or elevated spaces
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE
