The Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Division of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider to join our expanding team. This high-volume clinical setting requires an individual with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset, dedicated to delivering outstanding orthopedic care to pediatric patients with a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.
This is a full-time clinical position (40 hours/week) with no OR assisting and no weekend or holiday requirements. Preference will be given to a candidate with previous pediatric or orthopedic experience. NCCPA Board certified, FNP, VA state licensure, DEA Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. Administration: Provide support through triage of patient inquiries, follow-up on diagnostic test results, and timely responses to emails, EPIC messages, pages, and text communications. Professional: Engage in collaborative practice with colleagues and trainees, serve as a preceptor for students, and contribute to the education of staff and other health professionals using evidence-based practices and protocols. Maintain professional licensures, certifications, and credentials. Participate in Orthopedic Quality Assurance meetings and monthly Visiting Professor conferences. Clinical: Provides comprehensive evaluation and management of pediatric orthopedic conditions and injuries. Responsibilities include performing histories and exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests, performing injections/aspirations, wound care and minor procedures, and formulating management plans including splinting, casting, bracing and coordination of follow-up care. Educates and empowers patients and caregivers. Leadership: This APP will represent the Department Orthopedic Surgery and UVA Health System to uphold our ASPIRE values - Accountability, Stewardship, Professionalism, Integrity, Respect & Equity. The APP will serve as a resource for their teammates and staff, with option to participate in additional leadership and process improvement initiatives in the Department and broader organization. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree. Experience: Department and unit specific. Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs.
