JoinMott MacDonald'sdynamic and growing Water team in Pittsburgh, where your expertise will help shape some of the most transformative water infrastructure projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. Our Pittsburgh office is a hub for delivering forward-thinking solutions to aging infrastructure, climate adaptation, and water quality challenges. We also welcome applicants who can join us in our Cleveland or Chicago offices.



Key Projects we've been involved with:



  • Ohio River Tunnel -We're the design lead of this deep tunnel system, the first of three being built in Pittsburgh as part of ALCOSAN's$2B Clean Water Plan.
  • Cohocksink Stormwater Project- A nature-based solution to urban flooding, integrating green infrastructure to manage stormwater sustainably in Philadelphia.
  • Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District- Design lead of multiple deep tunnel systems in greater Cleveland region
  • Pittsburgh Water- Supporting Pittsburgh Water in development and implementation of their capstone Water Reliability Program.

What You'll Do:



  • Lead multidisciplinary teams on water resources, water treatment, and wastewater projects from planning through construction
  • Provide management and technical oversight on projects involving water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, stormwater systems, pipelines, and pump stations
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Support business development by identifying new opportunities and contributing to proposal efforts
  • Maintain and grow client relationships to support long-term success
  • Apply engineering principles to solve complex challenges and deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Estimate project costs and support commercial planning



What We're Looking For:



  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering (Master's preferred)
  • 10+ yearsof experience in engineering and/or project management focusing in water/wastewater design
  • Proven experience with public or private water and wastewater utilities in the U.S.
  • Strong background in planning, design, and delivery of water-related infrastructure
  • PE licensein Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain within one year); additional state licenses in Mid-Atlantic and Midwest a plus
  • A collaborative leader who can mentor junior staff and manage multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is Chicago and Cleveland is $118,000 - $144,000
