Title: Project AccountantCompany: Privately Held Software CompanySalary: $85K - $95KLocation: Fully remote, San Diego based preferred About the Opportunity Vaco is partnering with a growing client seeking a Project Accountant to join their expanding accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a project-driven, deadline-focused environment and wants to play a meaningful role in improving project financial processes. You'll work within a well-structured accounting department that includes a Director, Senior Accountants, a T&E Staff Accountant, Office Manager/Payroll, and other project-focused finance professionals. With the company in a growth phase, this role offers strong visibility and the chance to help streamline scalable project accounting practices. Key Responsibilities Support month-end close activities related to project financials, including reviewing project costs, recording accruals, calculating project labor costs, and performing reconciliations. Maintain project-level accounting records, including billing, job costing, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Assist with project billing for various contract types, such as Percentage of Completion (POC) and Time & Materials (T&M). Reconcile payroll costs to project time postings to ensure accurate labor allocations. Collaborate across departments to support project accounting processes and ensure timely, accurate financial information. Utilize SuiteProjects or similar project management/professional services automation tools in daily project accounting activities. Leverage NetSuite for project accounting workflows and related transactions. Contribute to ad hoc accounting projects or additional duties as assigned. Must-Have Qualifications 3-5 years of project accounting or finance experience supporting complex, multi-year programs. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Hands-on project accounting experience. Strong communication skills and comfort working with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with NetSuite. SuiteProjects or similar PSA/project management tool experience. Familiarity with project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, or Oracle P6.
