Job Overview & Responsibilities

As an Industrial Engineer at ULA's Decatur location, this individual will use engineering and Lean methods to improve processes, resources, and product lifecycles to enhance cost, quality, and schedule performance. Key responsibilities include:



  • Use the application of Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis and decision tools undergeneral supervision to promote and implement changes in manufacturing, engineering and service operations.
  • Use development of models, data bases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operationsresearch, engineering economics), and provide summary analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers).
  • Apply general industrial engineering techniques and concepts to product and process design teamsthroughout all phases of product lifecycle, resulting in a robust product design and work statement that meets program requirements.
  • Research, design, develop, improve and implement processes to enhance schedule performance, lowercost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.
  • Manage, define, negotiate, and control the scope, cost, and timing of projects, and perform risk analysisusing project management tools (e.g., work break-down structure, precedence network, resource allocation).
  • Use engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics) to develop optimal processdesigns and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) in the creation and validation of products.
  • Analyze and design value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, riskanalysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).

Minimum of 2 years of related work experience



Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Foundational understanding of industrial engineering principles including lean methodology and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and coordinate team efforts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
