Job Description

The Division of Plant Science and Technology Center for Regenerative Agriculture seeks a Strategic Communications Consultant. The purpose of the Strategic Communications Consultant is to plan, implement, and coordinate communications and outreach efforts for the University of Missouri Center for Regenerative Agriculture. The person in this position will be part of a highly collaborative team of both Center for Regenerative Agriculture (CRA) staff (www.cra.missouri.edu) and other cooperators from the University of Missouri and partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, write and distribute a monthly newsletter for the Center. Review and edit extension or other technical summary publications for the Center.
  • Provide social media posts about Center activities and events.
  • Update and manage the center website.
  • Develop and distribute podcasts on topics relevant to the Center.
  • Periodically oversee or contribute input on contracted educational videos.
  • Work with the Center Director and Associate Director to develop effective strategies for promoting the work of the Center and sharing Center Information; coordinate with the CAFNR communications office on outreach approach and relevant publications.
  • Promote and staff events for the Center, including staffing a display table or booth at relevant events for farmers and the general public. Work with members of the agriculture media and other media representatives to share information about Center activities.
  • Periodically visit farmer projects supported through the Center to do written, video, or podcasts pieces on farmer experiencers with regenerative agriculture approaches.
  • Support other Center program managers and staff with their communications and outreach needs.
  • Assist with other Center projects and other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift

40-hour work week, typically 8:00 am to 5:00 pm M-F, schedule negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in either journalism or communications plus experience with regenerative agriculture programs or projects.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,915.20 - $55,000.00

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
