Job Overview & Responsibilities

As an Aerospace Technician you'll perform work across all phases of launch operations, from vehicle build-up and preparation through launch execution. Responsibilities include:



  • Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and servicing of space vehicles, flight hardware, and aerospace ground support equipment.
  • Supporting mechanical, structural, electrical, fluid, and ordnance systems, as well as operating precision machinery and heavy-duty vehicles to ensure safe and efficient mission operations.
  • Support all phases of launch operations, including vehicle erection and alignment, fueling, pressurization, ordnance handling, control system checkout, countdown, and launch execution.
  • Conduct test and operational procedures, including setup, installation, calibration, and operation of test tools, consoles, and equipment for functional, verification, and preflight checks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fluid, and instrumentation systems for both airborne and ground equipment.
  • Perform installation, modification, calibration, and end-to-end checkout of instrumentation, telemetry, and electronic control systems.
  • Safely execute rigging, lifting, and movement of space vehicles, equipment, and components using cranes, transporters, and other specialized ground support equipment.
  • Operate heavy-duty vehicles (over 2.5 tons) to transport parts, materials, and assembled products between base, customer, and vendor locations, ensuring proper load handling and safety.
  • Disarm or troubleshoot ordnance systems in the event of failure, misfire, or malfunction.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and inspection reports using precision measuring instruments and accepted quality standards.


This posting is hiring for multiple shifts but will start on 1st shift for training. After training is complete, shift will be assigned based on seniority.



Required Education


High School/GED



Required Years of Experience


Minimum of 4 years of related work experience



Basic Qualifications



  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in a mechanical/technical role.
  • An Associate's degree or 2-year Technical Degree in a relevant discipline may be considered as equivalent to 2 years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance is required. US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to:

    • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs frequently.
    • Climb and work at heights.
    • Work overtime, 1st shift (for training) and alternate shifts as required. After training is complete, shift will be determined by seniority.


  • Willingness to travel to other ULA facilities including CA, AL, and customer sites as required (25%).
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation to travel between work locations on a military base (public transportation not available).



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in Aerospace & Defense industry or related field.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A
  • ASE certification
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Aerospace Technology or equivalent degree
  • Experience with:

    • Propulsion and hydraulic systems
    • Electrical systems experience
    • Tube Bending
    • Being a Crane Operator, Crane Director, or Move Director
    • SCAPE (Self-Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble) and hydrazine handling
