We are looking for a Hematologist Oncologist to lead the efforts supporting the medical and clinical development strategy of CareDx's pipeline cell therapy and bone marrow transplant monitoring products including AlloHeme, AutoCell and AlloCell. The Cell Therapy and Transplant (CTT) Medical Director will develop clinical trials, research studies and collaborations, draft manuscripts and abstracts, and collaborate in other relevant scientific exchanges. Additionally, this individual will be expected to develop and implement a data generation plan to support CLIA validation, engage with thought leaders, and guide the clinical adoption and reimbursement for new product launches.

The individual will partner with clinical and business leaders, including bone marrow transplant and cell therapy clinicians, relevant society leaders, government and private payers, laboratory directors, and other external stakeholders. Internally, the medical director will partner with the functional and business leads to help prioritize, analyze, propose, and execute clinical and research partnerships to enable the generation and dissemination of evidence regarding CareDx' cell therapy and transplant portfolio.

You will have the opportunity to help shape and scale CareDx's portfolio of testing and digital services to optimize cell therapy & transplant patient outcomes and establish CareDx as a leading company in this new market segment. The role is within the Cell Therapy & Transplant business unit with support from across company including biostats, data science, research and development, clinical operations, regulatory affairs and others.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the cell therapy landscape in oncology, has designed and led clinical studies, engaged with key thought leaders to drive clinical innovation and disseminating new data via publications, developed numerous abstracts and publications, and has presented at conferences and other peer-to-peer medical exchange platforms. A strategic approach to the involvement of industry with the clinical community through clinical and scientific understanding will be required.

The position involves frequent travel, working with key bone marrow and cell therapy centers, and supporting the commercial team and senior medical leadership where needed.

Responsibilities:



  • Design and execute sponsored clinical studies and support registries, investigator initiated trials, grants, research collaborations, etc.
  • Act as a senior company medical representative interacting with external scientific leaders, patient advocacy groups, payors, pharmaceutical companies, regulatory authorities, and others.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive abstracts and publication plan. Responsible for final abstract submissions and publications with input from key internal and external stakeholders and review by the leadership team.
  • Present at conferences and other scientific exchange meetings; when needed work with external clinicians to present on CareDx's behalf.
  • Function as the primary clinical resource for the commercial team to provide scientific and clinical leadership in the development of strategies for product/business development.
  • Organize and execute scientific and clinical advisory boards.
  • Work with clinical operations and medical affairs, be able to propose, implement, and monitor clinical studies.
  • Support scientific and clinical initiatives at key clinical and scientific meetings.
  • Coordinate with the CareDx organization to ensure the proper resources are in place to support new clinical opportunities.
  • Work closely with VP of Cell Therapy and Transplant, R&D and business development to evaluate new opportunities


Qualifications:



  • Oncologist Medical degree and experience beyond training required for the Medical Director role. Candidates without a medical degree but with significant experience and demonstrated capabilities matching the requirements may be considered for a medical science liaison role.
  • Prior industry experience in cell therapy therapeutics or diagnostics is preferred
  • Experience in leading clinical research and publications
  • Understanding of diagnostic and molecular monitoring tests for hematologic malignancies, particularly for patients undergoing cell therapy or bone marrow treatment
  • Results-orientation - track record for delivering results, taking ownership and accountability.
  • Strong initiative, creativity, independence, sense of urgency, self-motivation, and time management skills.
  • Comfortable presenting to and partnering with executives, key thought leaders in the field, and with cross-functional partners to solve complex business challenges.
  • Desire to work in a high growth and results-oriented team environment.
  • Unrelenting intellectual curiosity.
  • Travel required, up to 40%.

This is the anticipated base salary range in the United States. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to, the type and length of experience within the job, the type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units. CareDx is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
