Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The Career Coach supports the mission of the Office of Career Services by advising undergraduate and graduate students to maximize their career potential and readiness for experiential learning and post-graduation opportunities.
This position serves as the primary liaison to an assigned college or school, collaborating with faculty and staff to integrate career development and career readiness into the student experience.
The Career Coach provides individualized and group advising on career exploration, self-assessment, internships, and employment preparation, including resume development, interviewing, and job search strategies. The position also conducts engaging presentations and workshops to support career readiness, professional development, and experiential learning. In addition, this role creates, manages, and implements programs (i.e. Resume Drive, Mock Interview Event) that enhance student success and professional growth.
The Career Coach also assists with managing student career training programs and initiatives, including the Peer Career Coaches Program, while contributing to data collection, program assessment, and strategic planning in collaboration with the Leadership Team. Through innovative programming, employer engagement, and personalized coaching, the Career Coach helps students connect academic learning with real-world experiences to achieve their career goals and long-term success. |

The mission of the Office of Career Services (
OCS) is to provide centralized, comprehensive, and progressive interdisciplinary programs, services, and resources to prepare A&T undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni for the achievement of personal, professional, and career development that meets the needs of a global society.
Career Services is customer focused and centralizes the functions of full-time employment, summer internships, cooperative education, part-time employment, post-graduation employment, and career counseling. The centralized, comprehensive, and progressive programs, services, and resources provided by the Office are tailored to be a gateway for the enhancement of the skills necessary to keep the A&T Aggie competitive in the workplace. |
| Minimum Requirements |
* Master's degree in Human Resources, Higher Education, Counseling, Business, or a closely related field and 1 year of experience in career services, counseling, recruiting, HR, or higher education; or a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Higher Education, Counseling, Business, or a closely related field and 3 years of experience in career services.
* Ability to work with individuals, groups, and teams.
* Must be proficient with technology (Career Management Systems, i.e., Handshake) and interested in identifying and adopting technological advances in the field.
* Ability to prepare and deliver presentations.
* Well-developed interpersonal marketing and communications skills.
* Must be able to make decisions and work independently.
* High energy with an open, friendly personable attitude.
* Ability to see the big picture.
* Maintain confidentiality.
* Experience developing and presenting workshops, educational, or training events. |
