Department Information
Our goal is to provide Georgia Tech students with accessible, timely, and high-quality counseling and other mental health services.

We work with all students who visit us to develop an individualized care plan based on your unique needs. Our staff of case managers and counselors all specialize in mental health concerns that affect college students. We provide all students with evidence-based and data-driven interventions to help you to improve your functioning and get back on track with your personal, social, and academic goals.

Job Summary

Provide direct counseling services to clients. Will provide consultation and outreach support to students and campus groups as well as provide after-hours on-all emmergency consultation.

This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty, staff, students, and trainees.
This position typically will advise and counsel: Students and trainees.
This position will supervise: Trainees

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Provide initial screening and new intakes.

Job Duty 2 -
Provide individual, group, and couples counseling sessions.

Job Duty 3 -
Provide psycho-educational testing and assessments for GT students.

Job Duty 4 -
Provide crisis intervention and after-hours emergency on-call coverage as needed.

Job Duty 5 -
Provide outreach and consultation to the GT campus community.

Job Duty 6 -
Provide supervision and training for graduate-level practicum students and pre-doctoral interns.

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Advanced Doctoral Degree, such as a PhD or PsyD or an equivalent combination of experience and education

Required Experience
Two to three years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in counseling or clinical psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Ability to work collaboratively with others within other departments and demonstrate cultural competency when working with a diverse student population.

SKILLS
Experience providing counseling services within a counseling center setting, and providing outreach programming.

Other Information

Our internship, in particular, is designed to provide training in functional skill areas relevant to work in a university counseling center including individual and group counseling, outreach and consultation, assessment and testing, and supervision of practicum counselors. In accordance with APA and IACS accreditation, we provide a diverse range of training opportunities in each of these functional areas, and work with trainees to enhance their training in areas of specific interest. At the core of our training program is a collaborative model which allows each intern to have intensive training from a direct supervisor as well as regular contact with all members of the clinical staff who have a wide range of training backgrounds, theoretical orientations, and social identities.
