Job Description

Mercury Systems Integrated Processing Solutions (IPS) Business Unit (BU) is developing cutting edge secure avionics mission systems for military airborne platforms requiring highly competent talent from the industry. The IPS BU has a great opportunity for a Principal Technical Project Manager (TPM) who will work closely with the program manager (PM) to manage all technical / engineering execution on one or more related programs through the lifecycle of the avionics system including development, production, and sustainment. The ideal candidate will work with the BU Chief Engineers (CEs) to provide the technical leadership to the matrixed engineering teams. He/she will be responsible for securing and managing resources from a matrixed engineering organization and deliver technical solution on program cost and on program schedule. Another critical role for the TPM is to support bids and proposal activity and provision of basis of estimates (BOEs) for engineering change proposals (ECPs) on existing programs and on bids for new opportunities.



Job Responsibilities:




  • Provide strong architectural and technical leadership through in-depth understanding of complex hardware-software integrated systems and set the direction for program technical execution.


  • Integrate and coordinate activities of functional teams, including Hardware Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, System Architecture, Integration, Test, Quality, and Documentation to facilitate the effective on-time/on-budget development and delivery of Mercury's avionics systems solutions.


  • Serve as the primary liaison between the program engineering team and other integrated program team (IPT) stakeholders that include Program Management, Operations (Production / Manufacturing), supply chain, contracts, and finance.


  • Be accountable for the success of assigned programs delivering technical solution within budget, on schedule and meeting customer expectations.


  • Interact with stakeholders to understand the business needs, communicate program technical status and develop relationships to ensure satisfaction while minimizing program risk


  • Develop program plans, risk mitigation plans, tasks, budget, deliverables, dependencies and resource requirements to ensure on time delivery of program deliverables.


  • Oversee program deliverables, intervening when necessary to adjust priorities, move aggressively toward resolution of key delivery and customer issues, optimize for quality, timeliness, and flexibility.


  • Interact with and synchronize all key members of the program team and stakeholders.


  • Work directly with Senior Management and functional managers to resolve resource and organizational conflicts.



Required Qualifications:




  • BS degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related discipline such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Applied Physics/Mathematics.
  • Typically requires 6+ years of relevant experience.


  • Experience Project Management in new hardware/software product development, including defense, aerospace, or other domains.


  • Experience with scheduling, tracking and risk management techniques and tools.


  • Experience Microsoft Project or similar project management software.
  • Experience in all phases of the product development life cycle from requirements through design, implementation and integration, and manufacturing release.


  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements across an organization.
  • This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

  • MS degree.

  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.


  • Strong team building, interpersonal and personnel development skills.


  • Comfortable working among ambiguity and a changing and growing environment.


  • Proactive and taking initiative.


  • Atlassian Jira and Confluence.


  • System and subsystem integration.

Pay Grade Range
Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position
"* $87,100.00 - $182,900.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
* $97,600.00 - $204,800.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
* $102,800.00 - $215,800.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ"
