Adolescent Health Outreach Program Support

Responsible to the Adolescent Health Outreach Program Manager (AHOP) for support in coordination of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) and Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) grants. Primarily responsible for assisting in implementing TPP outreach for middle school age youth entering grades 6-8. TPP programming and outreach are an adult preparation program focused on reducing teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections and high school drop-out rates through a reoccurring curriculum but also provides a safe and fun space for youth to engage together outside of school. The employee must have strong communication skills and exercise independent judgment and initiative while adhering to and supporting agency policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

PROGRAM OPERATIONS:

  • Responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator with the daily operations of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention programming and activities.
  • Supports the facilitation of evidence-based curriculum in accordance to grant requirements set by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
  • Encourage youth participation and organizing lessons and activities.


  • Ensures participants receive services appropriate to/in accordance with the policies, procedures, and goals/requirements of the programs.
  • Assists Program Coordinator in ensuring the safety of all youth participants.


  • Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic, or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of participants and/or employees. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and only for authorized purposes.
  • Develops positive, meaningful, relationships with Community Action programs/staff and external service providers to assist in the coordination of services and the development of collaborative opportunities.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the Community Action mission, vision, values and policies within the scope and responsibility of this position.
  • Serves as a positive role model for program participants

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as grant and funding requests, policy and procedure manuals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations and contracts.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills and a commitment to leading efforts to build a culturally diverse and competent environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and board of directors.
  • Ability to write copy for marketing and social media outreach that conforms to prescribed style and format.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, fractions and percentages.
  • Understanding of outcome measures.
  • Basic understanding of non-profit accounting and budgeting practices.



REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral or diagram form, to solve problems requiring decision-making skills.
  • Ability to use analysis and judgment in the adaptation and interpretation of established practices and procedures to meet problems and situation to which their application is not clearly defined.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to gather and interpret data, write research reports, work effectively with low-income and professional groups and express ideas clearly and objectively in oral and written form.
  • Excellent computer skills including the ability to perform intermediate to advance functions in Microsoft word, excel and databases. Must maintain and produce reports utilizing databases.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Must be highly organized, accurate and detail oriented.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and customer relations skills, and must demonstrate good professional judgment, reliability and a commitment to cultural competency.
  • Consistent, dependable with the ability to work independently as well as a team member.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records/information and establish priorities to meet deadlines.
