Maintenance Ferry Pilot SPIFR - HAA - Sacramento, CA

  • Starting salaries: $108,773.83 - $119,651 (including 25% Geo Modifier)
  • 15K Sign on Bonus

The Maintenance Ferry (RW) Pilot is responsible for performing post-maintenance check flights on EC135 helicopters, and other aircraft as qualified. This role ensures that all systems and components meet operational safety and performance standards following scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Additionally, the RW Pilot supports aircraft relocation and provides shift coverage as needed when not assigned to post-maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities

Post-Maintenance Check Flights:

  • Conduct comprehensive post-maintenance flight checks on EC135 helicopters and other qualified aircraft to verify serviceability and compliance with maintenance directives.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel to review completed work and discuss any required follow-up actions.
  • Accurately document flight test results, discrepancies, and recommendations for further maintenance or corrective actions.

Aircraft Relocation:

  • Safely relocate aircraft between bases, maintenance facilities, or other designated locations as operationally required.
  • Coordinate logistics for aircraft movement, including flight planning, crew briefings, and regulatory compliance.

Shift Coverage:

  • Provide pilot coverage for scheduled flight operations, including patient transport, training, or other mission assignments, when not engaged in post-maintenance check duties.
  • Maintain readiness to respond to operational needs and fill shifts as directed by management.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all flight operations comply with company policies, FAA regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Participate in safety briefings, training programs, and continuing education as required.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with maintenance teams, operations staff, and management regarding aircraft status and operational requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required reports, logs, and documentation in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Current Rotorcraft FAA Commercial Certificate
  • Helicopter Instrument Rating
  • Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
  • 2,000 Total Flight Hours
  • 1,500 Helicopter Hours
  • 1,000 Helicopter PIC Hours
  • 1,000 Turbine Helicopter Hours
  • 200 Helicopter Night Flight Hours (Aided or Unaided)
  • 100 Helicopter Instrument Hours (Actual/Hood/SIM; 50 Hours Actual in Aircraft)
  • 230-pound weight limit with flight gear.
  • Demonstrated experience in post-maintenance check flights or similar operational roles
  • Strong understanding of EC135 systems, maintenance procedures, and flight protocols
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing operational needs
  • Must reside within daily commuting distance to Sacramento, CA

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and at different locations as required
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment related to flight operations
  • Willingness to travel and work irregular shifts, including nights and weekends
