Job Summary Manages, plans, organizes, and controls the plant operations and maintenance functions necessary in maintaining the physical structures, H.V.A.C., mechanical, electrical systems, utilities, and hospital grounds in an operative and safe working condition. Maintains efficient operation in specific crafts and areas of responsibility assigned. Responsible for assigned campus with centers encompassing square footage and acreage associated and multiple locations/facilities (<500 beds or <1.5 million square feet).
Essential Functions

Be the difference Manages, plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities of pre-assigned areas and functions of the Engineering Department. Maintains staffing levels and administers personnel policies of Prisma Health in his/her area of responsibility. Responds to all personnel issues. Works with managers, leaders and employees to resolve problems and improve employee morale. Ensures all code requirements of life safety and licensure as regulated by DPH, Joint Commision, the fire department, city building codes, and other applicable agencies within assigned area of responsibility. Assists with development and helps to maintain department budget. Assists with planning for annual departmental and project capital expenditures. Participates with other department managers in planning activities and committees relating to assigned area of responsibility. Attends other meetings when assigned by Director of Engineering. Plans and executes Performance Improvement/PI programs relative to manager's area of responsibility. Collects statistical data to show trends and reports when appropriate. These reports will show predictive updates to equipment based on equipment life cycle or life cycle failure. Provides liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors in facilities under the direction of Engineering to ensure that they comply with all codes and insurance requirements. Ensures adequacy of inventory and proper use of supplies and materials within manager's areas of responsibility. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field of study. Experience - Three (3) years lead, supervisory, or manager experience in facilities maintenance in healthcare engineering facility
In Lieu Of
In Lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, High School Diploma or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in lead, supervisory or manager role in Facilities Maintenance in Healthcare Engineering facility may be considered.
Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience working in a regulated environment. Working knowledge of all building systems on their assigned campus and keeps abreast of changes, problems, and ongoing work being accomplished. Working knowledge of code requirements of life safety and licensure as regulated by DPH, Joint Commission, fire department, city building codes and other applicable agencies. - Preferred
