Job Description

SCHEDULE :

Monday-Friday, Day Shift


MISSION:

The primary responsibility of this role serves as the connection between Operations and Quality to ensure consistent interpretation and application of visual inspection standards/techniques. This role conducts routine reviews of inspector practices to identify gaps, clarify expectations, and promote alignment with peers. The position will provide real-time guidance, support continuous improvement in inspection methods, and escalate discrepancies when needed. By aiming to standardize how visual criteria is understood and applied, the role will help strengthen product conformity, reduce process variation, and improve overall inspection reliability.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Must work closely with the Operations Team, Quality Team, and NDT Team.
  2. Monitor visual inspection activities to ensure consistent application of standards and work instructions across shifts and teams.
  3. Document and escalate recurring inspection inconsistencies, risks, or training needs to Quality/Operations leadership.
  4. If requested, assist the Quality Team when reviewing customer complaints and/or escape instigations.
  5. Assist in on-the-job training of new inspectors.
  6. Perform at least one annual assessment audit of every VisDim operator.
  7. Assist with performing annual eye exams (when requested by the Quality Manager).
  8. Assist with NADCAP audits (where necessary).
  9. Perform stamp audits.
  10. Identify potential areas of cost reductions.
  11. Be able to assist manufacturing/operations during end of quarter requirements to help throughput product.
  12. Be able to read/understand customer drawings and ensure that VisDim work instructions accurately reflect them.
  13. Support the Quality team (if necessary) with DSQR duties and other technician duties when needed by the business.
  14. Be able to have conversations with Vis/Dim operators about a variety of topics/issues that result in positive improvements.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have at least 5 years of actual inspection time, ideally on investment castings or aerospace products.
  2. Considerable knowledge of and familiarity with NDT principles as well as a working knowledge of NDT methods other than those not currently used at the facility.
  3. Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to apply and adapt a wide variety of technical procedures under general direction and to complete work independently.
  5. Ability to develop visual/dimensional work instructions.
  6. Ability to plan, schedule, evaluate and coordinate a wide variety of major projects.
  7. Maybe required to complete hazardous waste management training.
  8. Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint computer programs.
