About the Job

The School of Dentistry invites applicants for part-time, adjunct faculty to instruct in clinical areas and to serve as attending dentists for the Division of Prosthodontics. Adjunct faculty must be proficient to teach, demonstrate, and assess practice-level procedures in restorative dentistry and to assess and manage dental emergencies. They support the faculty by evaluating the clinical and professional development of students. They are expected to uphold all clinical policies and procedures of the School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and mentor students providing patient care in the clinics
  • Supervise and mentor students in the preclinical laboratories
  • Assess students in their daily clinical and preclinical performance
  • Grade quizzes and exams
  • Grade daily laboratory projects and practical exams
  • Attend lectures and faculty meetings for preclinical courses
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Division Director

The availability of adjunct faculty positions depends on the teaching, research and service needs of the Division. These needs fluctuate throughout the year.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • DDS, DMD or equivalent degree
  • CPR/BLS current certification
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Minnesota Board of Dentistry
  • Experience in the practice of Prosthodontics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in clinical or preclinical teaching
  • Experience in a community outreach setting
  • Completion of a CODA Accredited Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. All qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

About the Department

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry's Department of Restorative Sciences is one of four departments in the School and is responsible for teaching all dental restorative procedures. The department has four divisions: Prosthodontics, Operative Dentistry, Endodontics and Biomaterials. Courses are generally directed by full-time faculty members with the assistance of part-time and adjunct faculty members.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $2,013-$55,667; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
