Associate Scientist, GSK Vaccines - Translational Virology

As an Associate Scientist, you will be expected to be able to use your knowledge of virology and molecular biology to execute experiments with guidance from senior scientists and project teams. You must be self-motivated to deliver vaccine program objectives on time and be able to identify and mitigate any potential delays.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply virology and molecular biology expertise to support GSK vaccine projects
• Implementation of new technologies to help drive vaccine development
• Conduct in-house in vitro and in vivo virus challenge studies and downstream analyses
• Work with senior scientists to ensure project milestones are met on time

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in life sciences with at least 1 year of experience or a Masters degree in a related biotechnology field
• One or more years of experience in laboratory-based virology techniques including mastery of mammalian cell culture
• Two or more years of technical experience with animal handing procedures
• One or more years of experience conducting molecular biology techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with one or more of the following:

• 3-dimensional cell culture models
• Biosafety Level 2+ and/or 3 experience
• Involvement or collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry
• Working with large project teams in a matrix environment

• Excellent communication to effectively articulate complex scientific data
• Basic skills in statistical analysis
• Fluency in spoken and written English
