Electrical Engineers (Licensed), SmithGroup, Inc., subsidiary of SmithGroup Co., Inc., 500 Griswold Street, Suite 1700, Detroit, MI: Assists in the electrical engineering effort by applying engineering fundamentals to lighting, power distribution and/or special systems engineering design, typically in association with BIM input. Assignments are focused on the learning process and performing routine design tasks in support of projects. Works on design projects performing such tasks as preparing preliminary designs for lighting, power distribution and special systems with some supervision. Prepares preliminary designs with lighting and power calculations. Designs portions of projects with some supervision. May work primarily on BIM input for electrical design, and coordinates BIM efforts on projects. Performs BIM production and presentation support for assigned electrical engineering work. Revises, review and coordinate construction documents. Assists with in-house construction administration tasks. Produces accurate documents that align with SmithGroup standards for project assignments. Signs and seals documents for permit review. Supports more senior designers and engineers on large projects. Coordinates documents with other disciplines. Coordinates the work of interns and junior staff assigned to the project. Determines level of effort required for a given assignment and provides input on scheduling and scope. Coordinates with consultants. May assist in developing proposal materials. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week. Regional travel may be required, less than 5% of the work time.

Minimum requirement: a bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in electrical engineering, or any related field of study, and 4 years of progressive experience in any related occupation working on electrical design. Michigan Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure is also required. Basic annual pay range is one hundred twenty-seven thousand, three hundred seventy-nine dollars to one hundred twenty-seven thousand, five hundred dollars for full-time employment and standard company benefits.
