Plant Supply Chain Manager

Position has overall responsibility for the supply chain at the manufacturing plant. This includes raw material purchasing, inventory control and finished goods shipping. Responsible for data integrity and the flow of information. Functions as the point of contact for any issues that may delay shipments to customers. Provides leadership for and coordinates activities of shipping and receiving departments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for site management system to ensure compliance with all regulatory and corporate requirements, including ensuring all site associates understand and comply with these requirements.

  • Manages the shipping and receiving functions for the plant. This includes planning the production flow, troubleshooting raw material issues, handling staffing issues, monitoring production orders and schedules.

  • Ensure operational resources are optimized while ensuring costs and inventory are not affected.

  • Conduct inventory analysis for raw materials and finished goods to ensure working capital is kept at target levels.

  • Determine best supply chain strategies for specific packaging, raw materials and finished goods stocking.

  • Develop and conduct risk assessment strategies for product shelf life, supply trends, and demand.

  • Utilize problem solving techniques to effectively eliminate issues that may arise in planning, producing, inventory or shipping of product.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve service quality and efficiency.

  • Develops and collaborates with Shift Supervisors. Provides assistance to employees in solving work-related problems. Works cooperatively with Human Resources to determine the most effective resolution(s).

  • Develops and revises standard operational and working practices and observe employees to ensure compliance.

  • Identifies projects and methods to improve performance in all areas. Sets expectations and provides feedback to ensure staff achieves site goals in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Participates in and contributes to site, department and individual goals.

  • Participates on teams and projects as requested.

  • Collaborates with plant personnel to ensure consistent application of procedures, encourage teamwork and provide effective communication.

  • Assist in identifying training needs and performance gaps for team members.

  • Other projects/duties as assigned.

Physical/Environ. Demands

  • Physical demands include walking, lifting, standing, climbing frequently.

  • Able to work at heights, in inclement weather conditions, and wear prescribed PPE.

  • Able to work in a manufacturing facility, sometime under noisy conditions.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and problem-solve.


Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor's degree strongly preferred

  • At least 5 years of experience in a supply chain role in a manufacturing environment

  • At least 3 years of experience having direct reports
