In this position you will provide a broad spectrum of design engineering leadership and manage the manage the operations for civil engineering project teams, team member training and implementation of a QA/QC process for clients such as state, county and local governments as well as private development clients. The candidate will be a leader to project teams working in a fast-paced, project and client centered engineering environment to achieve operational efficiency, exceptional client service and consistent regional team growth. Over the last two decades, WGI has been involved in many of Texas' largest and most complex projects. Responsibilities

    In coordination and alignment with company leadership, define and lead a strategic plan for growth which includes targets and goals for revenue, efficiency, innovation, client and team growth. This position will be maintaining a strategic revenue and staff goal to be finalized with WGI leadership.
  • Build relationships with clients such that you define budgets, cost estimates, project schedules, and project information to delivernewcontractual agreements. Once approved, identify how to build a path to complete projects and communicate to project staff. This position will be maintaining a sales goal to be finalized with WGI leadership.
  • Consistently manage the growth of the production team through evaluation of the need for and the potential of new associatesthrough the WGI interview and onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with cross divisional regional leadership torepresentthe full WGI brand of services to the Central Texas market.
  • Act as a mentor to aid in the professional development of associates that report to you and theirsubsequentteams through measures of recognition, accountability, and open communication.
  • Assistdesign teams in the development of engineering designs including Construction plans, profiles, utility design, roadway design, plan details and specifications;

Prepare engineering documents including storm water design reports, permit applications, opinions ofprobably cost, and supporting calculations;

  • Coordinate projectswith other disciplines todetermine resource needs, subconsultant partners, and authorities having jurisdiction, and resolve technical issues and concerns of clients and projects;
  • Coordinates with project managers, clients, and client representatives to ensure scope delivery, evaluate deliverables and ensure adherence to contract documents;
  • Evaluate the work of technical staff and provide feedback and/or correction based on client needs and regulatory requirements;
  • Produce written specifications for materials,implementationand construction methods;
  • Take the lead in developing project design approaches and concepts on assigned projects in coordination with project managers and requestassistancefrom available technical staff when needed;
  • Coordinates with local jurisdictional authorities, utilities, and municipalities to ensure understanding and compliance with industry and regulatory standards;
  • Provide direction on design and code requirements, specifically in the City of Austin and surrounding localjurisdictions.
  • Participateand develop a leadership role in local, regional or State level technical engineering associations such as ACEC, TSPE, or ASCE.
  • Assistdivision managers in the development and execution of technical training programs for staff;
  • Continue to develop,matureand implement regional growth and management success strategies, project delivery best practices, and innovative design solutions to increase project delivery efficiency and effectiveness;


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineeringfrom an accredited four-year college;
  • Active registration as a Texas Professional Engineer (PE) isrequiredand NCEES registration for multi-state accreditation preferred;
  • Site Civil and/or utility (water and sewer) engineering experience required;
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and web browser applications;
  • Knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies;
  • Proficiencyin CADD is preferred;
  • Familiarity with modeling software (ICPR, EPANET. Water CAD,HecRas,etc) is helpful, although not required;
  • Strong work ethic and excellent written and verbal skills; and
  • Ability to mentor junior level and mid-level engineers

Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer, keyboard and mouse. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit for prolonged periods (although stand up desk functionality is provided), use hands/fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms, speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
