Main accountabilities

  • Analyze samples received from final product retains, various process steps, and additional samples associated with R&D projects.
  • Calibrate and maintain analytical equipment such as GC, HPLC, ICP-MS, FTIR etc.
  • Understand the various unit operations in the manufacture of 1,3-Propanediol.
  • Familiarity with quality systems in a regulated environment including GMP, GLP, FCC, USP requirements.
  • Familiarity with LIMS systems and chromatography data collection systems. Labware LIMS and Chromperfect a plus.
  • Responsible for accurate data entry into SAP prior to final product release.
  • Assist in customer complaint investigations.
  • Organize and maintain the sample retainer room.
  • A team player that possesses strong analytical, oral/written communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment/adapt to changing procedures with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to safely perform the following tasks:

  • Lifting of up to 55 pounds without mechanical assistance.
  • Climb a vertical ladder up to 15ft
  • Climb several flights of stairs, several times a shift
  • Stand for up to 1 hour without sitting
  • Bending and twisting motion at the waist and knees

Ability to work a rotating shift schedule with the flexibility to work alternate schedules as needed.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. In addition, this job also operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Performance measures

The incumbent will be measured against site EHS, Quality, Production, Reliability and Leadership goals.

Skills and experience required

  • Minimum of 3 years laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment (lab methodology and equipment)
  • Bachelor's degree required in chemistry (or related scientific field).
  • Analytical Laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience in calibrating and troubleshooting analytical equipment
  • Experience with quality systems in a regulated environment including GMP requirements
  • Experience with chromatography data collection systems.Chromperfect experience is a plus
  • A team player that possesses strong analytical, oral/written communication and computer skills.
  • A customer focused with understanding of customer needs
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment/adapt to changing procedures with minimal supervision
