Job Summary Provides student services program support that will include financial aid for credit and clock hour students. Performs complex financial aid duties and responds to financial aid problems and inquiries. Communicates effectively with students, parents, internal customers, and external agencies, while creating and maintaining a variety of program materials, reports, and documentation. Processes financial aid applications and performs program updates as needed, packages federal student aid, and maintains accurate record keeping for financial aid programs. Knowledge and application of Title IV programs, policies and procedures, and federal and state regulations to ensure program compliance. Provide outreach services to student support areas to include financial aid by conducting financial aid presentations and training. Works effectively with a various populations of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the general public. Essential Functions 30% - Provide accurate and consistent customer service to students and parents regarding financial aid programs and related services. Analyze/interpret regulations and respond to inquiries requiring detailed knowledge of regulations and policies. Ensure compliance with all financial aid policies, and adhere to a superior level of customer service 25% - Reviews and performs technically complex Title IV processes, including review of financial aid applications, packaging student financial aid inclusive of verification, budget proration, awarding, authorization of funds, corrections to ISIRs (Institutional Student Information Records), post award adjustments, etc. Responsible for processing numerous reports and financial aid forms. 25% - Assists students with the financial aid process from initial application to award. Performs regular follow-up, via email and phone calls, to ensure students understand the financial aid process and assists with verifying applications for accuracy and completeness. Represent the college at special events, such as financial aid workshops, orientations, and other on-campus programs. 10% - May evaluate and take action on student appeals, conduct FA presentations to student groups regarding financial aid/scholarship resources and policies, and provide general clerical assistance. 10% - Assists with administering financial aid programs such as student employment, loan programs; reviews office practices and procedures; may assist in training of students, staff, and temporaries; performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, customer service, or related student development programs. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications A. Experience in a financial aid office with knowledge in federal and state aid regulations, programs, compliance, policies, and student financial aid guidelines. B. Experience in awarding, and disbursing student financial aid in compliance with federal and state laws. C. Experience working in a higher education environment with a role in Enrollment Services (admissions, records, registration, advisement, cashier, financial aid, outreach, or recruitment). D. Experience providing general customer service. E. Experience utilizing external databases necessary for awarding student financial aid such as National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), Central Processing System (CPS) F, Experience with software applications and/or proficiency in using student information systems (e.g., Peoplesoft, Dynamic Forms, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, phone systems, or other relevant software) Special Working Conditions May be required to travel or be assigned to all GateWay locations May require some evenings or weekends May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas How to Apply Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a cover letter that details how the applicant meets the minimum and desired qualifications.
