These roles are responsible for drawing blood from patients, students, or research participants for medical tests, donations, or research studies. Phlebotomists ensure accurate collection, proper labeling, and safe handling of blood samples in compliance with laboratory and safety standards. Professionals in this field may specialize in drawing blood for tests, transfusions, donations, or research. Individual contributors with responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty. Spends majority of time in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. Opportunities for progression outside this career stream are typically limited without additional education or significant training and experience. Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through training and/or experience. This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care areas. Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and require vocational or technical education. Works under moderate supervision. Problems are typically of a routine nature but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent required. Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred. Experience: 2 years Phlebotomy experience in a complex healthcare setting. Licensure: Certification with an approved accredited nationally recognized phlebotomy organization required. PBT(ASCP) certification required within 12 months. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping and climbing (ladder, steps); Repetitive motion: extension and flexion at wrist. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. Position Compensation Range: $15.68 - $24.30 HourlyBenefits
