The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) shall support the DTRA Command Surgeon by providing occupational health and wellness services at the DTRA Medical Readiness Clinic. The LPN will support daily clinic operations and ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) medical, occupational health, and safety standards. This is a 1.0 FTE position located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Duties:

Clinical Operations

The LPN shall:




  • Perform clinic opening and closing procedures in accordance with established protocols.



  • Support daily patient care activities within the Medical Readiness Clinic.



  • Provide basic first aid and treatment of minor occupational illness and injury.



  • Conduct vital signs, vision screenings, and electrocardiograms (EKGs).



  • Perform phlebotomy (blood draws) at predetermined areas of responsibility (AORs), including DTRA POE, Dulles, VA.



  • Perform audiology hearing tests and maintain DoD audiology technologist training requirements.



  • Prepare and reset examination rooms between patients.




Medical Scheduling and Patient Processing

The LPN shall schedule and support:




  • CAT 1 and CAT 2 Medical Evaluations (Annual Physicals)



  • E-Essential Personnel Physicals



  • Travel Consultations/Screenings



  • Periodic Health Assessments (PHA)



  • Post-Deployment Health Assessments (PDHA/PDHRA)



  • Military School Physicals



  • PCS Levy Briefs



  • Reasonable Accommodation Reviews



  • Pre-Deployment and Post-Deployment Medical Screenings



  • Pre-Placement Physical Exam Reviews



  • Travel Clearance Record Reviews




Additionally, the LPN shall assist with in-processing and out-processing of DTRA personnel in accordance with clinic protocols.

Systems and Documentation

The LPN shall:




  • Utilize and maintain medical data within AHLTA, MHS GENESIS, MEDPROS, and EMR systems as required.



  • Comply with all regulations governing HIPAA, bloodborne pathogens, and controlled substances.




Administrative and Logistics Support

The LPN shall:




  • Answer clinic phones and manage patient communications.



  • Manage supply inventory and maintain medical equipment readiness.



  • Track and order ancillary services, including:




    • Vaccines



    • Medications



    • EKGs



    • Audiology services



    • Spirometry



    • Laboratory testing



    • Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)






Training and Health Promotion

The LPN shall:




  • Assist with the development and delivery of safety and occupational health training.



  • Support and provide training for:




    • Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR)



    • First Aid



    • Basic Life Support (BLS)



    • CPR and AED



    • Hearing and vision conservation



    • Pregnancy surveillance



    • Sharps/body fluid exposure response





  • Support health fairs and health and wellness briefings.




Occupational Health and Safety Support

The LPN shall:




  • Inspect SHARPS containers across designated DTRA sites and replace at capacity using approved SOPs.



  • Adhere to DTRA bloodborne pathogen and SHARPS disposal programs.



  • Coordinate with Fort Belvoir Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) for SHARPS container disposal.



  • Support evacuation and medical referral of DTRA personnel to approved medical facilities as required.



  • Assist with review and implementation of DTRA occupational health programs, clinical policies, and safety directives.




Required Education:




  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program.



  • Current, unrestricted LPN license.



  • Current certifications in:




    • Basic Life Support (BLS)



    • CPR



    • AED






Required Experience:




  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an LPN.



  • Minimum of 1 year experience supporting DoD military medical services.




Clearance and Credentialing Requirements:




  • Contractor must provide a Primary Source Verification (PSV) packet verifying:




    • Education



    • Licensure



    • Certifications



    • Work history





  • Candidate must be credentialed and privileged through Fort Belvoir ATAMMC prior to start date.



  • Contractor is responsible for ensuring all credentialing documentation is provided to the Contracting Office for submission to ATAMMC.




Compliance Requirements:

The LPN shall comply with:




  • All DoD Occupational Health standards



  • HIPAA and medical privacy requirements



  • Bloodborne pathogen regulations



  • Controlled substances handling rules




Regulatory requirements may change during the contract period and ongoing compliance is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
